As a web designer with Alpen Lily, my journey extends far beyond crafting digital solutions. It’s about weaving connections, fostering change, and working with nonprofits that align with my passions. In this post, I’ll discuss my experience working with Alpen Lily, the nonprofits we support, and nonprofits that I support personally, and I’ll explore the profound impact of collaboration and community-driven initiatives.

Why nonprofit projects resonate with me

  1. Meaningful Collaboration: Working with nonprofit organizations allows us to join forces with like-minded individuals who share our passion for positive change. Through collaborative efforts, we leverage our expertise to amplify the voices of those striving to make a difference in the world.
  2. Empowering Causes: Each non-profit project we undertake embodies a cause that speaks to the core of our values. Whether it’s promoting education, environmental conservation, or community welfare, we’re driven by the belief that our work can empower and uplift.
  3. Personal Fulfillment: My work with nonprofits goes beyond professional endeavors—it’s deeply personal. From supporting local initiatives in the Tahoe-Truckee area and beyond to championing causes close to my heart, every project has a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Nonprofits we support at Alpen Lily

  1. KidZone Museum: The KidZone Museum holds a special place in my heart. Having spent a lot of time at the museum with my own children, I’ve witnessed the impact of early childhood education firsthand. Their dedication to creating enriching experiences for children in the Tahoe-Truckee area is truly inspiring. Check out the KidZone Museum’s website project.
  2. The Sperm Bank of California: We’re proud to collaborate with The Sperm Bank of California. The Berkeley, California-based nonprofit is dedicated to providing ethical family building options to their diverse community. Learn more about the Drupal-to-WordPress migration, web application and redesign we did for TSBC’s website.
  3. Lake Tahoe Ski Club Foundation: The Lake Tahoe Ski Club Foundation promotes the development of youth athletes in the Truckee-Tahoe region. Learn more about our redesign of Lake Tahoe Ski Club Foundation’s website.
  4. Palisades Tahoe Community Foundation: The Palisades Tahoe Community Foundation is another organization that supports the development of young athletes in the Truckee-Tahoe Area. Check out our redesign of the PTCF website.
  5. Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden: North Carolina-based Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden has  a mission to inspire a love of nature and its beauty through unforgettable outdoor experiences. DSBG’s website is one of our favorite redesigns we’ve done.
  6. Humane Society of Truckee Tahoe: We’re dedicated to supporting the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe in their efforts to save and improve the lives of pets through adoption, community spay/neuter, and humane education programs. HSTT is a longtime Alpen Lily Web Studio client. This is another one of our favorite redesigns.
  7. Sierra Community House:  Alpen Lily has worked with Sierra Community House since the inception of their organization in 2019. In the beginning, we worked with their team to help communicate the unification of four separate, long-standing social service organizations. As the Tahoe-based nonprofit’s needs have changed over the years, Alpen Lily has been involved to help their website adapt. Check out the Sierra Community House project.

Nonprofits I support personally

  1. Surfrider Foundation: I enjoy my volunteer work and helping with beach cleanups for the Surfrider Foundation. They are dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves, and beaches, for all people, through a powerful activist network.
  2. 14000ft.org: I’m proud to support my dear friend Kristen Kempt’s nonprofit dedicated to sustainability and empowerment for artisan communities in the Andes of Peru. Seeing the tangible difference she makes in the lives of marginalized communities reaffirms my belief in the power of grassroots initiatives.
  3. VisionServe Alliance: I help VisionServe Alliance with web and print projects. They are focused on creating a better world for people facing blindness and low vision. They lead a consortium of organizations and leaders that advance the entire vision loss field.

At Alpen Lily, our journey with nonprofit initiatives is defined by collaboration, purpose, and impact. Through our work with organizations that share our values, we strive to create meaningful change and inspire others to join us in shaping a more equitable and compassionate world.

For me, it isn’t just about designing websites – it’s about being a part of something greater. The opportunity to use my skills to support causes I believe in, coupled with the personal connections I’ve formed along the way, makes every project meaningful. As I continue to lend my support to nonprofit organizations, I’m reminded of the profound impact that collective action can have on shaping a brighter future for all. I find immense joy and fulfillment in collaborating with organizations that are driven by a mission to make a positive impact in the world.
