We all had to get a bit creative when the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) shut down businesses in Tahoe-Truckee. So much of what we do here is service-related. The KidZone Museum – a children's museum in Truckee, California – was no exception.
The Museum's executive director, Carol Meagher, had an idea for at-home activities her staff could generate while not working at the museum. We ran with it, and KidZone@Home was born.
We generated a template to help KidZone Museum staff generate content each week in Google Drive. The content is organized by the Museum's core values of Play, Discover and Connect. We developed an email template that is distributed every Friday evening, so parents have time to prepare for the coming week. We designed a special section on the KidZone Museum's website that serves as the hub of all activities. We also created a social media component, so parent can connect with other parents and the Museum, using #kidzoneathome.
